Chatelain Quarter : The place to be
A brief history of the quarter: Initial plans for the square were unveiled in 1879, with the intention of creating a small square by changing the alignment of rue Simonis. The name of the street refers to a part of Ixelles which used to form a castellany (land under the jurisdiction of a castellan), much like other streets such as rue du Bailli, rue du Page, rue du Prévôt, rue du Tabellion and rue du Magistrat. The whole of the square either has neo-classical façades or is inspired by this style. The oldest buildings were constructed around 1880.
Nowadays this quarter is ideally situated and full of life. It has all the facilities that you'll need, including bars, trendy restaurants, delis, shops, schools, a market, and a gym. These attributes make the area very appealing.
